VH1 Hip Hop Awards 2016

This one’s for the ladies. This past Monday, VH1 aired the much-anticipated return of “Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens,” which was first produced 12 years ago. Airing live from Lincoln Center, the production shed light on the women in hip hop who fought for their voices to be heard in a male-dominated field. In between outstanding performances by Remy Ma, Nelly Furtado, Eve and Trina (to name a few), the two-hour show paid tribute to special honorees Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim, and Salt-N-Pepa for their trailblazing work for women in the industry. Highlights of the show included First Lady Michelle Obama honoring Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah, Diddy surprising Lil’ Kim, and of course our remarkable and unparalleled cuisine.

Prior to the show, CxRA had the privilege of catering the pre-parties for all of the VIP guests. The festivities began promptly at 7PM on the Grand Promenade and Portico of David Geffen Hall, where guests noshed on Grilled Apricot and Goat Cheese Flatbread, Avocado Toast with Chili Jam, Ahi Tuna Tartar, BBQ Beef Short Ribs, and Truffle Mac & Cheese Bites.

Our Contemporary Slider Grill was also a guest favorite, serving Panko Chicken Sliders with Blue Cheese Celery Slaw, Veggie Sliders with Basil Aioli, and Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburgers.

For those looking for a healthier option, guests were treated to Watermelon with Jicama and Radish, Fresh Mozzarella with Tomato Relish and Fresh Basil, and Roasted Shaved Brussels Sprouts with Chopped Cherries. Needless to say, everyone dined like the true queens they are.

And, just like all performances, we saved the best for last. Beginning at 8PM, guests were served an assortment of Gelato on Mini Cones along with Devil’s Food and Red Velvet Whoopie Pies. Between the whoopie pies and the music goddesses who graced us with their presence, it’s safe to say that this was an event for the books. We are so grateful that we were able to be a part of such an empowering production. Ladies, here’s to you!
