CxRA’s definition of service extends further than just special events and into the communities around us. The Brownsville Community Culinary Center, co-founded by Claus Meyer, teamed with CxRA to throw its first fundraising gala on March 8, 2018 supporting culinary training to residents of Brownsville and Central Brooklyn. The Brownsville project is the first United States location from The Melting Pot Foundation that teaches culinary skills to disadvantaged youth bringing a positive impact in a struggling neighborhood. By sponsoring these students, they are not only changing their lives but also the communities lives by bringing healthy food options to a vulnerable area.
The fundraising event featured food by Anito Lo, Gunnar Gislason, Jerome Grant, and Pierre Thiam, and it was a proud moment for the students to create the dessert. The Brownsville Community Center provided all food and produce to bring to life this Scandinavian inspired menu and raise money to access job training opportunities and support community issues.
CxRA was honored to be a part of this event. To find out more about Brownsville and how you can help, please visit https://www.meltingpotfoundationusa.org/about/mission/.
