An Afternoon of Philanthropy

On a beautiful Tuesday in May, the sun lit up Fifth Avenue and set the stage for The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation’s annual “Ladies Who Lunch for a Cure”. New York City’s most influential and charitable women gathered looking fabulous at Susan Gutfreund’s East Side landmark residence for an afternoon of philanthropy.

The Waxman Foundation was founded in 1976 and has been leading the way in cancer research supporting researchers worldwide. This luncheon honored fashion icon and designer Jason Wu showcasing his beautiful collection while guests enjoyed a chic menu to match provided by CxRA. It was the perfect day to enjoy not only an artisanal cheese station but also our famous micro veggie jars featuring Pickled Candy Cane Beets with Goat Cheese, Brussel Sprouts and Apple Slaw, and Purple cauliflower puree with toasted almonds. CxRA also featured some sweets that no one could resists such as chocolate truffles, citrus cookies, and Apricot Hazelnut Biscotti.

Guests sipped on a selection of fine wines donated by Palm Bay and incredible Gin and Tonic cocktails thanks to Gunpowder Irish Gin. And to top it off Magnolia Bakery provided a sweet take away with a cupcake to go for each guest.

CxRA is proud to continue this fourteen year partnership to help the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation cure cancer. If you would like to donate, please visit their website at
