The ships pull in and suited up sailors flood the streets, that’s right, it’s Fleet Week in NYC. CxRA was armed and ready to honor the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coastal Guards at the 27th annual Salute to Freedom Gala aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. The Gala brought together leading members of business and military communities to help the museum promote awareness, honor our heroes, and inspire the youth.
As the sun set on the Hudson, the Intrepid was decked out in water themed décor and welcomed 650 guests for a night of patriotism and great food! The Broiled Oysters and Liquid Olives were an innovative and tasty start to the night as guests enjoyed blue mojitos amongst the planes and history in Hanger 2. The curtains opened to Hanger 3 and revealed the beautiful dinner setting. For such a classy night, a NY Strip Steak was the perfect classic entrée to honor our national heroes.
For the Intrepid’s 75th anniversary, the Museum honored the Fisher Family with the Intrepid Salute Award for their continual dedication to preserving the legendary ship. The museum also recognized Senator John McCain with the Intrepid Lifetime Achievement Award after more than 60 years of dedicated service to our nation.
After a powerful program honoring those who serve and have served, it was time for the grand finale, the dessert reception, which was a hit with rotating walls of dessert featuring Chiffon Bars, Panna Cotta, Cookie Pies, and Mini Chocolate Mousse Domes. CxRA also rolled out Cake Push Pops and S’mores with Chocolate Pipette to satisfy every type of sweet tooth.
CxRA salutes and thanks the brave men and women who serve our country!
